we are proud to present the first international art handlers noise contest at the collectively run club-restaurant hirscheneck.
featuring international names and local idols from the noise and experimental music scene — artists who also carry out the responsible task of art handling around the world.
this first edition brings together acts from berlin (formerly canada), poland and now zurich, glasgow (formerly texas), as well as local art handlers from basel and across switzerland.
as art handlers are generally known to be calm, pragmatic people — often with jamiroquai in their ears — we would like to highlight the often-overlooked diversity of this profession and present a different kind of art handler: those who move fragile artworks with the same care they apply to feedback loops, contact microphones, and sonic boundary-pushing. people who remain calm and friendly even in the most stressful situations, who work with precision, and who prove their professionalism every day between storage, white cube, and backstage — now, for one night, on a different kind of stage.
